3 Productivity Tips To Maximize Your Day

One of the biggest struggles being a solopreneur/entrepreneur/online business owner can be making sure you are being your most productive self each and everyday. While working for yourself and by yourself is amazing, it can also be a huge challenge if not approached correctly. When I first started working from home, my bed was pretty much my desk and office and I loved every second of it! But after a month or so, the comfort of it all started to wane on my productivity and I found that I needed to create more of a routine for myself to maximize my day. So without further ado, here are my top 3 productivity tips:

1. Make a list at the start of your day

This one is very key to accomplishing success and it requires creating a daily list of to-dos that need to be done for your business in order of priority. Running a business means that there is literally an endless list of to-dos and it is so easy to get caught up in a task that is not most integral. Writing it all down on paper makes it easy to see exactly what needs to be done so you can then break up the tasks for the week to help manage your time effectively. If you have a massive list spreading it out throughout the week helps to keep you sane because you feel super productive anytime you check something off for the day and you feel completely in control of what gets done. It is also very important to not beat yourself up if something on the list does not get completed on the designated day. Things come up and that’s completely okay, so just simply shifting things to the following day is completely fine! The key is to have a rough lists of tasks you aim to complete and try to knock off as many as possible. This has been a game changer for me in my life and makes me feel my most productive!

2. Remove distractions

With the internet at the ends of your finger tips and an endless supply of cat videos to watch, distractions are not always easy to avoid. Not having your social media open in your browsers or puttingĀ  your phone in a different room or on airplane mode for a set amount of time is one way to help reduce distractions. Even if you absolutely love what you do, we are all human and can get caught up in other things online. There are even apps online that will block certain items on your phone that you are prone to get sucked into. Which ever way you need to do this, just be self aware enough to recognize what your weaknesses are and be proactive about shutting them down early!

3. Give yourself a start and end time

Along with removing distractions, setting a start and end time for your day to give it structure can be a massive game changer for you and your business. When I first started working for myself I felt so happy to be able to work as much as I wanted and whenever I wanted. This meant that I would just never know when to “turn off” and would get burnt out! Once I saw this happening I knew I needed to set up some structure as if I were working a 9 to 5. Nowadays I plan to completely stop working around 7 or 8pm and aim start around 9 or 10am. By giving my self this time frame, I am forced to complete my allotted tasks for the day during these hours. Also distractions become less of an issue because I know I can do whatever I want once my working hours are done. Obviously this cannot always be honored but the point is to aim to stick to it more often than not so you can give yourself some type of routine that results in higher productivity.
