When people first think to potentially turn their blog into their full time job, the first thing they try to figure out is how to build up traffic, their email list, their website copy, etc, etc. Everyone wants to talk about strategies all day long until they are blue in the face, but for those who are serious about taking their blog from a hobby to a business, mindset is wayyyyyy underrated. In fact, it is everything.
When I first started my blogging journey it was 100% a hobby and I didn’t really have plans for it to become my full time job. But as more and more bloggers out there slowly became real influencers and started launching businesses from their blogs, my eyes were completely opened to the possibilities.
It took me a long time to get to the point where I was ready to transition from a blog to a business, but once I did decide, it required some MAJOR mindset work. When you transition your blog into your full time gig, you become the boss and an online business owner. This requires you to put yourself out there in a bigger way than you ever have in your life and to learn the systems and processes to set yourself up for success.
I learned very quickly that I had to step into the role of being a successful business woman if that is what I really wanted. It wasn’t just a matter of taking certain actions, deploying every strategy I could get my hands on and hoping for the best. I had to show up in an entirely new way which means I had to condition my mind for this totally new life that I was creating for myself.
It is so easy for self doubt and fears and worries to get the best of you when starting an online business. Consistently reinforcing to yourself, that yes, you can do this, yes this is completely possible for you, and yes you are an amazing, intelligent, and fierce business woman. Without this reinforcement, the negative thoughts can easily take over and stop your business from succeeding before it even starts! Doing the strategy work AND the mindset work is what I have found to be a major key to success.
The fact that you have a blog, means you have something to say to the world and something that you are passionate about. This alone is worth pursuing as your path in life and giving yourself a shot. I have learned how amazing it is to follow your gut and do what feels good for you regardless of what others my think! While the journey may not be easy and there are lots of bumps on the road, it is guaranteed to be more fulfilling than pursing a dream that wasn’t yours to begin with.
