Top 4 Instagram Metrics to Analyze

As a secret nerd at heart, I can say that I am all about analyzing and dissecting metrics to improve my social media and blog. There is not a day that goes by that I do not check my metrics. For Instagram, my go to Analytics tool is Iconosquare. I cannot rave enough about how much I love this tool! It so easy to use and just lays out all of the most important details and metrics of my Instagram account for me. While there are many different areas to play around with in the tool, these are my 4 top metrics that I consistently check and that have the biggest impact on my overall Instagram growth strategy:

1.Best Times to Post:

This is the key metric to track to get the most engagement out of your posts. I have found it to be so incredibly useful to look at so I know the best times to put up my daily posts. When you first get the tool, you will have to test out a few different times of posting and then it will tell you out of those times, when your audience is most engaged. Since Instagram is moving more and more towards favoring accounts with higher levels of engagement than followers, this type of metric has never been more important to pay close attention to!

2.Engagement Rate:

Your overall engagement rate will tell you how your posts are doing and is very important to pay close attention to. It is one of, if not the most important metric to track especially if you are a blogger looking to work with brands. An engagement rate of around 5% or more is considered very good believe it or not so always keep an eye on this number and if it dips below that engagement rate, investigate the ways you could be creating better content or engage more with your audience.

3.Most Liked Media:

This will tell you what types of post are resonating the most with your audience and what you should keep posting and what you should post less of. It is so important to not post what ever you feel like putting up that day. A strategy is key if you want to blog as a business and take it to the next level. Seeing what does really well on your account over time will give you insight into what types of content you want to post more of and continue testing what works best with your audience.

4.Follower Growth Rate:

Growth rate is important to keep track of because you always want your account to have consistent upwards growth. It definitely fluctuates and some days will grow much more than others, but you always want this number to be going up! If you got a chance to check out my Instagram Growth Guide  (which you should download now if you haven’t!) then your strategies should be working and you should be gaining new followers everyday. If you are implementing strategies and find that you are not growing, than that is a huge clue to investigate your account and see where improvements can be made.

These are my favorite and most important metrics I track everyday! If you have any favorite metrics that you track and weren’t mentioned, let me know in the comments below!
